About Me; Who am I?
I am Kalan, 25 years of age, and a wannabe game developer and designer located in Leeuwarden (the Netherlands). While I went to NHL-Stenden to study HBO-ICT and specialized in Software Engineering and Game Development, my true passion lies in storywriting, especially those behind games, for example.
The reason I went the HBO-ICT route is that I have always had an affinity for computers and technology as a whole, and while I do prefer the storywriting aspect of things, I’d also love to be able to work on games based on my own stories.
On a more personal level of “about me”, I was born and raised in Leeuwarden, while my parents come from the Rotterdam area and the Hague, respectively. I am an only child, and for the last 9 years, I’ve been living on my own in the city. In my spare time, I spend a lot of time socializing with those near and dear to me, like my love interests and close friends, and besides that, I play a lot of video and tabletop games, write stories, and watch some TV.
I also do volunteer work at COC, specifically for their Cocktail department, which involves organizing meetings for LGBTQ+ refugees within Friesland. On that note, I’ve been out of the closet since 2016, and find joy in discussing the pedantics of the queer communities I find myself a part of.

As I mentioned in the intro to the left, I've been out of the closet since 2016, but as what?
Well, originally me coming out of the closet was a case of me acknowledging that I didn’t quite feel like a guy. The term I had found to describe myself was “Androgynous”, something not quite man or woman, but something in between. In hindsight, this truly dates back to when I was only a few years old, dressing up in girls' clothing even as a little “boy” (Bless my grandma for this).
It wasn’t long after that I realized I was also into men, well, only very specific men, to be honest. Hence, when I found the term Omnisexual, it’s what I started using to describe my sexuality.
Years later, I’ve changed to identifying as Genderfluid, or Genderflux in specific, and I now primarily use they/them pronouns, though I also quite love it when people alternate between they, he, and she when talking about/to me.
And of course, I changed my name to Kalan/Kayla back in 2020.
